Well, I was gone for so long I am not even sure where to begin. I finally graduated from College with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. I began creating again just a few weeks ago so don't have much to show except some little shadow boxes I did for Halloween. I do have a new pic of my grandson though so will post that one too. Well I can't believe I haven't posted in so long. I have been busy finishing school and will graduate with my BA in Psychology on May 16, 2009. I am also engaged to be married and very very happy. I hope to pick up my blogging again, but I have not created anything since last summer. I would like to move on to do only Halloween artwork though and do have some ideas on the drawing board, just not doll related at this time.

It's been awhile since I posted a picture of my grandson. He will be 18 months old on June 25 and boy is he a power house. He is all boy, he is jumping off furniture, climbing on everything, getting into everything and wants to run, run, run us ragged. He is also the sweetest little boy, he comes and hugs and kisses me all the time. I just am so much in love with this baby. Being a grandma is the best.

I never thought I would really like a project like this, but I had so much fun making one that I made another one after. I plan to make more in different colors, because Bunnies after all can be shown all the time. This is my version of Jennifer's Bunny.

Don't catch the virus that is going around. It had me down for a whole month, which is why I have not posted in so long. It's been a long, long month this last month. First I got sick right in the middle of my blog giveaway contest and I had already been sick 2 weeks before that.

Then on February 26, my 2004 dodge stratus was completely destroyed by some guy in a parking lot. It turned out that I owed more for the car than it was worth so I didn't get any money to replace it. The car company got the money and I still OWE! Grrrr. So no car with a teenager and a 15 month old and unreliable bus transportation where we live. So between a rental and my mom's car we have been making due.

Finally, yesterday Easter Sunday, my mom took me to a dealer she spoke to on the phone and after being there for 6 hours I drove home in a new 2007 Hyundai Accent silver. Here's a pic. So now I have a new car and things are looking up. My energy is coming back and I can post some pictures of things I have worked on. I sent out the two prizes for the blog giveaway too. So in a couple of days I will post those pictures. I hope everyone has a great week.

Well this is my 98th post, only 2 more to go for 100. I'm not sure why 100 is such a milestone, but everyone seems to have some kind of giveaway or blogiversary when they hit 100. I have been busy with swaps again, but I am almost done and will devote time to my projects for my doll club meeting on March 1. I also am almost done with the blog giveaway prize and will post a picture this weekend most likely. Am I doing something wrong?

Ok, so I listed the little elephant doll on ebay and not one bid!! I was totally disspapointed about it and wodner what on earth I could have done wrong, is she not prim enough? is she too cutesie? was my starting price too low or too high? It had me knocked down for a few days. My website is still under construction, but has some stuff on it. I know I need to advertise more, but with the economy the way it is and my full time job outside the home not much time is left for all the advertising. I want to be able to create and post and sell some things too, but so far it is not working out very well. Any thoughts, ideas, suggestions would be sooooooooo appreciated.

No pictures to show tonight, I have been working on stuff, but mostly for swaps and can't show them until my partners receive them. This is my 95th post and we are closing in on 100, yay!! Valentine exchange

Each time my doll club meets, we have a challenge, exchange and class. We start our day out showing and sharing our newest creations, patterns, books and ideas. Usually we choose a theme and use it to decide our exchange and challenge. This time we had the fairy house class, our challenge was to make a fairy for our house and our exhcange was a valentine related item. I made this wall hanging out of red felt and a gorgeous red/purple plaid homespun. I love this color.

Fairy Houses and contest

At my doll club on Saturday, we made these little felt fairy houses. This was a really fun project, so much fun I came home and started some more smaller ones. This one stays with me, but I am going to make some of the smaller ones and try them on ebay. Maybe I might make some milk money for my grandson. Anyway, I noticed that I am getting closer to my 100th post and have been cooking up a contest. Not too sure what it will entail (it will be simple) but some kind of contest, with (YES) a free handmade giveaway!! Woo hoo, so check back frequently in the next week and a half for details about the contest.

With the holidays and some minor medical issues I have been out of the loop again. This Christmas was my grandson's first birthday, he was born on Christmas morning of 2006. Here are some pictures of him to check out, he took his first step on Christmas eve and ate ham and turket at Christmas dinner and was such a little gentleman when putting his fingers in the christmas train cake I made him. What a delight this little boy is and what joy he has brought to our home. We are so blessed. I want to wish everyone out there a Happy New Year and hope that this year I will be more productive and healthier. I am working on some new dolls and crafts and hope to post some new pictures soon. Some of them are for swaps and won't be posted until the person receives them.

Willie is the custodian for Meadowlands, the place I work. He has been working here for 35 years. He is my dearest friend and has adopted us as we have adopted him. He is an orphan, so every year we have him for Thanksgiving as well as other times for dinner throughout the year. After almost 10 months has has decided to hold my grandson and I captured this great picture of them last week.

Since I have posted, a dear friend I have known since I was 17 has died in a motorcycle accident, that is the third death in my life in 8 weeks. This hit pretty hard because he has been a part of my life for so long and it has left a hole in my heart.

I have been creating here and there, mostly for swaps and things, but do have a few pictures to share with you all.

I just got word that the oldest member of my doll club Dorothy passed away from a stroke last week. It saddens me to know that she will not be at the corner of the table anymore. Here is a pic of our club, Dorothy is in the middle.

1948-2007

I received the sad news that my father David Lee Wagenhurst passed away on Thursday, August 23, 2007. He was 59 years old having just celebrated his birthday in June. He lived in Texas and I live in California. I am deeply sorrowed by his passing. The funeral was tonight, but unfortunately I was unable to attend. I do hope that he is at peace and that all of the pain and suffering he endured have ended. I don't know what is at the end of this life, but I do know that we choose our lessons to learn.

May his soul rest in peace.

The beach bag swap inspired me to make a cloth Hitty. Not sure what possessed me, but here she is. I made her dress and have begun another dress and picked out fabrics for several other dresses too, lol. I guess I am hooked. Her box is one that my mom gave me that had some perfumes and lotions in, it has 2 drawers so she is in one and her clothes in the other. I painted the box brown.

Doll club swap

I belong to a doll club that gets together about every 8 weeks or so. We meet in Livermore California and I travel about 60 miles each way to go, but it is worth it. Some of the other members travel farther than that. We have been meeting since October 2000. At every meeting we have show and tell of the projects we have been working on since the last meeting. We have a potluck lunch and then some sort of class or project that we work on in the afternoon and then we do an exchange usually pin doll or doll sized. This time we made little beach bags to fit the Hitty size doll. This is the one I made. I made little flip flops, a towel, a novel, I also made a little bottle of sunscreen with shrink paper, then I added a bottle of wine and a parasol. This was a fun one even though I rarely like to make things this small.

Been on a pincushion kick lately, not sure why except maybe because they are quick I get almost instant gratification and sometimes when I have been ill or in a slump I can get something quick done and get the energy for a new project. I just finished making this penny rug wallhanging that one of the ladies taught on The Primitive Artisans Guild where I am a member. Kare at Kmprimitives.com is a talented lady who shared this with a few of us and I am so pleased with how it turned out. I have become a hand stitiching fiend lately because I have been sick a lot the past few weeks and it is something I can do without setting up the sewing machine.

Believe it or not I have been working on some things. I finished two wall hangings and a few dolls are in progress still. I heve never done a wall hanging and am looking for ways to display. I am not good at quilting either but here is my attempt at wall hangings one is for my daughter and the other is for my sister. I don't have pics of the other two wall hangings I am working on, but will soon. Will also add pics of the dolls I am working on as they are finished.

Here are pictures of Keaondray at 5 months sitting assisted by his boppy and the other he is on his tummy playing with his two favorite things, his hand and his octopus. We can't go anwhere without that octopus. My daugther calls is Occie. I believe he is teething because he drools constantly and bites everything with his gums.

So it's finally warm enough to swim in Northern California, so we took my little grandson to the pool, he stuck his feet in and pulled them out right away. It was too cold for him, oh well can't blame a grandma for trying. Doesn't he look handsome in his swim trunks and new sun hat?

The golly I rceived was from Beryl and I named him Willie he came from the UK to live with me. This was a fun one.

Spring time recipe

Thought I would share this recipe for a spring and summer dessert.

1 angel food cake torn into 3 inch pieces
2 boxes strawberry gelatin
1 pint fresh strawberries
2 large bananas
Cool whip

Place torn pieces of angel food cake in the bottom of a 9x13 glass pan, cut the strawberries and place on top of the cake, slice bananas and place on top of strawberries, make gelatin according to the oackage directions and pour over the cake and fruit. Chill until set. Cut into squares and top with cool whip. This is beautiful and refreshing dessert to serve at a barbecue or picnic. enjoy!!!!

I belong to Dude and Dolls Cloth Dollmaking in Northern California. We meet in Livemore every 8 weeks or so. I have not been to a meeting in about 1 year, and this last Saturday had the opportunity to attend. My little rabbit pull toy was made for our exchange. This little monkey 3 inches tall was our group project after lunch. We also made tuffets for our dolls.

I had to make a doll toy for my doll club meeting last Saturday. I got hooked on the prim staining and started to doodle bunnies, this is an original design 3 inches total. I used kitchen bouquet and water to age the fabric after he was stuffed, then I rubbed cinnamon into it to make it grubbier in spots. The wheels are fabric covered buttons. My daughter fell in love with him and was bummed that he was being given away.

“What do you mean, this is not my nest!?”
A pin doll or hanging

Materials Needed:

1-Square of orange felt
1-Square of yellow felt
3 inch straw hat
Small length of ribbon for hat
Small amount of stuffing
Small flowers
Hot glue gun
Glue Sticks
Small amount of tissue paper
Needle
Yellow embroidery floss
2 small wiggle eyes
Tacky glue
Small bit of string for hanging
Hot iron
Freezer paper

All lines are cutting lines, trace all pattern pieces onto freezer paper and cut out

Body:
Iron body piece on to doubled piece of orange felt, cut out.
Use your needle and embroidery floss (6 strands) to blanket stitch around the edge of the body.
Leave a small opening in the chick’s body to push the stuffing through, don’t make him too fat. This is a loose stuffed body.
Wings:
Cut out two wings from the yellow felt using your templates.

Legs:
Cut two lengths from the yellow felt inch long x ½ inch wide.
These will be your legs.

Feet:
Cut two feet from orange felt.
Glue the feet to one end of each leg, make sure to bend the edge toward the birds back before gluing the foot on

Beak:
Cut a small triangle on folded yellow felt.

Comb:
Cut 1 from yellow felt.

Hat:
Decorate your hat.
Take a small bit of tissue paper and scrunch it up.
Add some glue to the inside of the hat and stick the tissue in there to dry.

Putting it all together:
Blanket stitch one wing to each side of the body using the yellow floss.
Hot glue the legs to the bottom of the body.
Hot glue the comb to the top of the head.
Glue the beak on the face 2” inches from the top of the head.
Glue the two wiggle eyes to the face on either side of the beak.
Now glue the birds bottom to the inside of the hat.
Put a string through the top of the birds body behind the comb, not through it.
Walla, you now have a bright little bird to hang in the window

This is a pindoll/hanging I made for Sandra Walker for our Make me laugh pindoll exchange on PDA. The name of the piece is "What do you mean, this is not my nest!?" He's a little bird that lost his way and settled himself into a spring hat. He is very surprised to find that he is not in his nest after all. I am waiting for my swap partner to receive her package before I post what was supposed to be a pindoll but turned out to be a pin sized hanging. I willpost pictures and the pattern and instructions to make it. It's kind of crazy, but perfect for spring. In the meantime I have been sewing and dealing with a fussy baby at home. My grandson is now 9 almost 10 weeks old and is starting to regulate his sleep and wake hours, but last night he fussed for 4 hours solid until he finally wore himself out from crying and whining.

I created this pattern for a witch(pictured above) a few years ago but have not done anything with her since I worked up the prototype, she is only dressed in her underwear and stockings at this point, but thought I would show her here anyway, she has a very light purple face and her arms and hands will be painted to match. Her name is Matilda, I would appreciate any input.

I have been madly getting ready for my doll club meeting at the end of this month. I have not been in a year, I also was not creating anything until just recently. I devoted all my time to school and work that I left no time to create and it just about killed me. If I don't make time to create something inside me dies. So, will have lots of photos to post soon, in the mean time keep checking her for my freebie.

Sherry Goshon on FDA gave the group instructions to make these little pincushions/tuffets a week ago and I finally finished mine and here are some piccies. Instead of the half balls I used wooden beads to coordinate with my colors.

My home internet is not working right now so I only have access to the web at work, :-(...... This is LaChaz, my first all original design. I actually created this pattern several years ago. He was tested by 5 talented dollmakers and with their feedback has been tweaked into what you see here. I am hoping that I can finally get him out in the market, but don't know if anyone will be interested or not. I also have a pattern and instructions for making a 4" doll pin of this same guy included in the pattern. Any feedback is appreciated.

I took this picture of him after his bath last night, nothing better than the smell of fresh clean baby. He will be 8 weeks old on the 25th. Tomorrow he gets his first shots, look out. He already turns from his tummy to his back and he is so strong I think he will crawl early, but then so did his mommy.

Pin dolls

This is how I display my wonderful pin doll collection that I have made and received from other talented doll makers over the years. I took a white tablecloth and folded it to fit over a wire coat hanger so that it is long, then I sewed across just under the hanger on the back so it would stay. I bent the top of the hanger into a loop and added a net bow to the top. I always get asked lots of questions about how I display all my pin dolls. The picture to the right of the pindoll display is me as a baby with my first raggedy ann doll.

A new beginning

Well, this is my first post on my new blog. Not even sure what to say except that I have been creating again after a 2 year hiatus and it feels great. I have a few things in progress and will post pictures as I finish them. I am so excited because I am beginning to make my first prim doll and I can't wait until she is finished. Prims have caught my attention lately and I have joined quite a few prim groups on Yahoogroups.com. There are so many wonderful people to meet and chat with online.

The doll pictured above is called Alani, she was a test from a pattern made by my dear friend Lotus Vele, Lotus and I belong to the same doll club here in California.
